Bela Padilla raises P3.3 million to aid street vendors in time of community quarantine

On Wednesday, Bela Padilla confirmed that her crowdfunding effort for street vendors has already hit P3.3 million.
Padilla said on Twitter on Tuesday night that her goal of P1 million has been attained. Then, this morning, she said that a donation of P2.2 million had come in, bringing the total donations to P3.3 million.

I was just woken up by a call. Somebody donated 2 million pesos. We are now at 3.3M pesos. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

On March 16, Padilla created a GoGetFunding page in order to extend help to street vendors including individuals who make a living by selling taho, banana cue, and other products whose sole income would be hit by the community quarantine in Metro Manila.
Initially, she planned to run the advocacy for a few weeks but she decided to close it already at midnight on March 18 when it reached P1 million goal. The donation was at P1.37 million exactly when the page was closed.

Additionally, she posted an Instagram Story last night and she said, “Thank you so much to everyone who donated from the bottom of my heart.”
“I’m now gonna start emailing GoGetFunding and PayPal so they can start processing this quickly,” she added. Moreover, she also said that she was canvassing for the “best price” for rice and canned goods “so we can share the blessings with more people.”
