This Fish Found at the Amazon has Teeth like Humans
Underneath the waters on Earth are thousands of creatures. Some, we may have seen with our naked eyes but others are simply left undiscovered. The moment these species are exposed to the majority is the time where everyone is left in awe and disbelief that such a thing does exist!
Amazon, which is considered one of the largest rivers in the world is home to many water species. But these two types of fishes has now fascinated researchers as they exhibit teeth that look just like those of human beings!.
These species of fish are the Pacu and Sheepshead.
According to National Geographic, the Pacu fish is a freshwater fish that is very common in the Amazon and Orinoco river basins of lowland Amazonia. These fish have even been found as far away as Papua New Guinea.
The Pacu belong to the Piranha family which are often portrayed in movies as the flesh-eating fish and are carnivores by nature. But, the Pacu has different eating habits as it prefers vegetables, and is more of an omnivore.
The teeth of the Pacu are a lot more square than their piranha relatives. A quick look at their teeth and one can instantly tell that they look similar to that of human beings.
Another species with the humanlike teeth is the Sheepshead. The difference between the Pacu and the Sheepshead though is that the Sheepshead fish has A LOT more human-looking teeth.
According to BuzzNick, they even have a teeth development process that is very similar to that of human beings. As the Sheepshead fish becomes a full-grown adult, they will have incisors that sit at the front of their jaw, along with molars that take up three rows on the top and two rows on the bottom.
It sure is amazing how these similarities exist in two equally different living species here on Earth. This just goes to show how amazing, wonderful and meticulous the Earth is made.
Thus, as humans, we should take care of it so its glamour and beauty will also be witnessed by the next generation.
